The Team
Jay - Jay once said, “You know, Beth is married to you, but I’m kind of married to you, too.”  Remove any sexual overtones, and truer words were never spoken.  Jay and I moved in together in college and didn’t split up until seven years later when I married my real wife.  In the interim he has been there for me every step of the way.  He both produced and co-starred in Effin Sports Camp and is a partner in our production company, Company A Productions.  He is smart, funny as a mother, a wicked poker player, and one of the few calming influences in my life.  You wish you knew him like I do.
Beth - First let me say that Beth hates this picture.  But I like it so here it is.  To be fair, she had an 8-month old bun in her oven.  Our daughter was born one month later.  So in case you haven’t guessed it, Beth is my wife.  Let’s see if this doesn’t sum up her greatness for you: After okaying the script for Effin Sports Camp she oversaw casting, locations, craft services, crew hiring, wardrobe, and anything else that could be called “non-creative”, then flew coach while pregnant to Houston.  In August.  And didn’t divorce me.  Done, case closed, greatest wife ever!  I knew that about her when we met after high school, and I know it more today.
Rachel and Bob - The late-blooming Executive Producers.  Just before I left for Houston to begin shooting the movie Rachel showed up at our house with a check.  She said that she and Bob wanted to support my dream.  Wait, what’s the definition of Really Good Friend?  Oh here it is, “Someone who shows up unannounced with a check and wants to support your dream.”  We’re lucky to have made such good friends in LA.
Andy - aka The Dolan.  I’ve known Andy since we played summer lacrosse together in Houston and then I coached him at Rice.  Andy lives in Australia, and if you ask him what he does he’ll tell you some boring thing about engineering.  But I know that he’s a 00 spy.  In June 2006 he came through LA for a day when we happened to be making copies of the script for investors.  He read the pages as they came out of the copier, got to page 26, and cut us a check without our even asking.  If we were girls we would have hugged or something, but being men we shook hands and looked each other sternly in the eye.  But I wanted to hug him.  Also, Andy’s living in Australia gives us a different flair.  This is an international movie!  Thanks, Andy!
Jeff - When I began looking for cinematographers, Jeff came highly recommended.  So I called him and he returned my call.  From Berlin.  Germany.  I sent him the script, he liked it, and he was on board  without my even meeting him.  And thank god.  Jeff’s technical expertise, filmmaking knowledge, and unique way of scaring the crap out of the kids were all invaluable.  He busted his butt for Effin Sports Camp, working 21 straight days (most of them outside - in August), and I won’t forget it.  Jeff is a writer and director himself.  He has written and directed six (?) independent films.  Check out his website at www.sevenandahalfseals.com.
Jonathan - I found Jonathan when I was looking for cinematographers.  But he ended up being our 1st Assistant Director.  And he was great.  Always cheerful, always chatty, when we needed someone to go distract a yardman so he would turn off his leaf blower for five minutes and we could steal a shot, Jonathan was the man.  Also, Jonathan was committed to the project.  He was always there, when he could find our location.  He is a filmmaker as well.  Check out his website at www.5films.com.
Ron - Ron was one of the first people that we rejected.  We saw his picture, said no thanks, then moved on.  A month later Jeff brought him to the auditions in Houston.  I knew right then that Ron would be in the movie.  It was fate.  You’ll see him credited in the movie as Kevin, but he deserves more.  When our DP went down with bronchitis, everyone moved up a slot and took the next job.  Ron ended up holding the boom for six hours in the sun.  You try doing that.  But in addition to that Ron had no trouble infiltrating my cabal - not easy to do - and became a real friend.  Plus, he’s a badass actor and cute as a button!
Candice - Candice had the unenviable job of carrying the emotional burden of the movie while trying to coexist with the boys’ club all around her.  I say she did a great job.  Unlike Ron, we liked Candice from the start, and her audition only confirmed our feelings.  We knew we had our Traci.  The only awkward time came when Candice and I had to make out.  I asked her for some advice and she told me that the only love scene she had ever done was one where she was being attacked or something.  Not exactly what I was looking for.  But somehow we got through it.
Michael - Michael is a professional editor and another one of our LA friends.  Let me just get this out of the way - Michael is a straight-up freak with the editing.  He edits faster than I type - by a lot!  And he’s good.  I had no idea when we were shooting this that Michael would be able to make us all look so good.  On top of that, he does it in his spare time, after editing all day, instead of being at home with his family.  Plus, he works well with me.  Ask Beth how easy that is.  Michael is the man!

Picture coming soon!
Wayne - It was always Wayne’s dream to be in a movie and preferably to be killed.  Because I’m such a good friend I made that dream half come true.  I’m just sorry that I couldn’t kill him.  I’ve known Wayne since high school and we lived together in college.  He has been a friend, teammate, roommate, co-conspirator, co-defendant, groomsman, Godfather, and now Executive Producer (along with his wife Heather) to me and my family.  Way to go, Wayne!  I promise to kill you next time.
